While looking for additional brands of hot sauce to evaluate, I discovered this notably hot-flavored Tabasco Brand Red Pepper Sauce at Walmart. This product has been around since I can remember, and I’ve used it from time to time. However, until now, I’ve not stocked it in my kitchen. But I’ll start now, as I’ve discovered that this hot sauce is a much-lower sodium example of pepper sauce than any of the other hot sauces I’ve reviewed so far. It’s simple too, built with only three ingredients. But more on that below.

Anyway, I decided to bring home a 5-ounce bottle of this original Tabasco sauce for review. Indeed, I liked the overall sharp taste, thinner consistency, glass bottling, and low price of this product from McIlhenny Company of Avery Park, LA. Indeed, many companies make hot sauce in the here and now, due to its versatile spicy flavor. Apparently many folks like me, enjoy that strong Tabasco pepper kick, as this sauce is a favorite alongside hamburgers, fish, and chicken dishes.

I’ve applied Tabasco red pepper sauce to fish dishes now and again for decades. Tabasco brand is among the hottest pepper sauces I’ve ever shaken onto ribs. It has a mean bite that will numb your tongue if you spread it too liberally on your food. Not a bad thing. Just a fact of this particular pepper sauce.

Note however that while you may correctly refer to this product as a hot sauce, it has a distinctly different flavor than the brands that dub themselves as Louisiana hot sauce. However, the Tabasco aroma closely resembles many of those other hot sauces.

Here are my over all positive thoughts on this hot sauce.

Benefits Of Tabasco Brand Red Pepper Sauce

The curiously hot flavor of Tabasco strongly accents the taste of so many fish- and poultry-based entrees. It’s so strong that it can hide the “fishiness” of fish and the “fowlness” of chicken near-completely if desired. But don’t over-apply it, as it will indeed give your tong taste fatigue, and the burning sensation will last for ten minutes or more. Also, have plenty of your favorite beverage nearby to douse the heat.

It’s a thinner sauce, which is quickly absorbed into the bread coatings of fish and chicken patties. It’s natural.

This shockingly sizzling flavor offers a loud, peppery hotness.

The best-used-by date is two years out from the purchase date. So this fiery hot sauce will keep a long time in the your recreational foods chest.

This product need not be refrigerated after opening. Just store it in a cool, dry, and dark place for maximum original-flavor preservation.

This sauce adds plenty of heat flavor to any dish but virtually no calories or carbs. I prefer it most on fish fillets and pork.

I’d describe this hot sauce as quite hot; I’ve tasted very few other hotter sauces. So I’d avoid party recipes that call for lots of this hot sauce, as people may steer clear of them due to the extreme spice.

I love the glass bottle; better than plastic containers.

This product has no added food colors or preservatives. Yet it stores well for at least two years.

The sodium in this product is way low, at just 35 milligrams per teaspoon.

Further, Tabasco contains almost no calories, carbs, fat, or added sugars. Hypertensive folks can consume this product and worry way less that it will raise blood pressures.

There’s absolutely no sweet taste to become addicted to here, which is spectacular. Even if there was a small amount of sweetness, I’m sure that the peppery heat would mask it quite well.

What I Dislike About Tabasco Brand Red Pepper Sauce

Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce can be a chore to find, except in the bigger grocery chain stores.

How about some recipes printed right on the bottle?

Once this Tabasco sauce sets your mouth ablaze, you can’t just drink one, two, or even five swigs of water to quench it. Oft time, you must wait for the flames in your mouth to die down on their own.

People sensitive to this high level of flavor should avoid this product, in my view.

Tabasco Brand Red Pepper Sauce Ingredients

Distilled vinegar, red pepper, and salt.

Tabasco Brand Red Pepper Sauce Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 teaspoon (5 milliliters). Servings per 5-ounce container: about 30. Calories: 0. Total fat: 0 grams, 0% DV. Saturated fat: 0 grams, 0 DV. Trans fat: 0 grams. Sodium: 35 milligrams, 1% DV. Total carb: 0 grams, 0% DV. Protein: 0 grams, 0% DV.

Tabasco Brand Red Pepper Sauce Rating

All-in-all, this muscular-flavored red pepper sauce is a seasoned cook’s friend for amping up foods with seriously spicy flavor. Some will like it. Many however, will not. So know your guests preferences before serving foods that include lots of Tabasco in their recipes. In moderation, Tabasco hot sauce a highly healthy flavoring, as it contains no added sugars or fats, and low sodium. So I highly recommend it be included any any chef’s kitchen. I’d rate Tabasco Brand Pepper Sauce at 99 out of 100. It’s a near-perfect food.

Where To Buy Tabasco Brand Red Pepper Sauce

Look for this pepper sauce in the clear glass bottle (that displays the orange-red hot sauce inside) with the white, red, and green, label at just about all grocery stores big or small.

I found Lay’s Stax Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips recently at Walmart, and wanted to fetch a can of them home, try them out, and write on on how they impressed me. They’re good; better in fact, than the Salt & Vinegar flavor Pringles crisps in my humble opinion. You get more potato in each chip, and a notably stronger vinegar taste, which makes these chips easily recognized as vinegar-flavored. Compared to these, the Pringles version is a much weaker flavor. Not bad per se. Just weaker.

As is the case with many of the Pringles flavors, the taste in the Lay’s Stax Salt & Vinegar offing comes from artificial food additives and chemicals. The potato chips themselves are coated each with a fair amount of this fine, grainy powder that carries the salty salad-dressing flavor in this snack. However, though the taste in the Pringles I described in my review of them as “well-pronounced,” the Lay’s Stax flavor seems stronger still. I like Lay’s more in fact.

Benefits Of Lay’s Stax Salt And Vinegar Potato Chips

This Pringles flavor potato chip is fairly easily found at the bigger grocery outlets as well as some smaller ones, where I bought mine this morning.

Their intense vinegar-saltiness can quickly eliminate that afternoon hunger or those bedtime snack yearnings. The crispy crunch is definitely Pringles, which have never arrived at my pavilion soggy.

This snack is not greasy, and the flavor, never grows tiresome.

The stay-fresh plastic can with the lid for resealing keeps the chips inside fresh for weeks after first opening, and at least several months before. So this is a great snack to hoard.

The can is not as easily bent or distorted as the Pringles cans can be. So the good fit of the lid, and thus, the great seal it makes, lasts longer on the Lay’s Stax cans.

Zero grams of trans fat. None of the Lay’s Stax flavors I’ve examined so far have any trans fats. Looks like trans fats are fast-falling out of favor in the snack food industry.

Cans may be stacked vertically or horizontally, several layers deep, without damaging the contents inside.

I found this product for roughly $1.50 per Super Stack can. Not a bad price.

As with Pringles canned potato chips, Lay’s Stax are all shaped identically, which simplifies eating them. You can, with near-effortlessness, grab a big handful, chew them, and slide them down, without much crumbs falling to the floor.

The flavors-list is small for this product, including salt, potatoes, a few oils, and of course, vinegar. They also use buttermilk. Interesting.

What I Dislike About Lay’s Stax Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips

These potato chips can shatter into lots of little crumbs should you drop the can accidently.

There’s a sizable list of modern-day food additives printed on the can that includes sodium diacetate and disodium inosinate. But there are no yellow or red dyes in this flavor. Excellent!

These chips have much fat and sodium in my estimation, at 9 grams and 290 milligrams respectively, per 1-ounce serving.

Sugar (in the form of dextrose and unmodified potato starch) has been added. Do away with that excess sugar, won’t you?

Lay’s Stax Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips Ingredients

Dried potatoes, vegetable oil (cottonseed, sunflower, and/or corn oil), unmodified potato starch, rice flour, and less than 2% of the following: sugar, salt, maltodextrin (made from corn), sodium diacetate, lactose, mono- and diglycerides, dextrose, soy lecithin, natural and artificial flavor, citric acid, monosodium glutamate, malic acid, skim milk, buttermilk, disodium inosinate, and disodium guanylate. Contains mik and soy ingredients.

Lay’s Stax Salt & Vinegar Potato Chipss Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 ounce. Servings per container: About. 6. Calories per serving: 150. Calories from fat: 80. Total fat: 9 grams, 13% DV. Saturated fat: 2.5 grams, 13% DV. Trans fat: 0 grams. Polyunsaturated fat: 3.5 grams. Monounsaturated fat: 1.5 grams. Cholesterol: 0 milligrams, 0% DV. Sodium: 290 milligrams, 12% DV. Total carbohydrate: 17 grams, 6% DV. Dietary fiber: 1 gram, 4% DV. Sugars: 1 gram. Protein: 1 gram. Vitamin A: 0% DV. Calcium: 0% DV. Vitamin C: 2% DV. Iron: 0% DV.

Lay’s Stax Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips Rating

In short: I find these potato chips quite the flavorful and satisfying break snack. Lay’s potato chips work well at really any celebration, birthday party, or other gathering. The 7-out-of-10 intensity level vinegar-salt flavor, wakes people up and gets them asking what kind of chips they’re eating. These potato chips hold their freshness for several hours when poured into a bowl, even on humid days. Since these chips are significantly thicker than Pringles, they stay crunchy longer in humid party air, both outdoors and inside. People might confuse a Lay’s potato chip with a Pringles one because their shapes are rather similar. Nonetheless, Lay’s Stax chips occupy their own substantial corner of the uniquely-flavored potato chip market, and I’d rate this product at 96 of 100 due primarily to that great-tasting trademark flavor.

Where To Buy Lay’s Stax Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips

Most of the bigger stores that stock Pringles potato crisps also sell Lay’s Stax potato chips. So look for Lay’s Stax in the deep blue plastic can with the bright yellow lid at your favorite larger grocery stores like Walmart, Giant Eagle, Giant, Hometown, and others. They may also appear at smaller, regional shops now and again. I picked up mine at Walmart.

While looking for additional brands of hot sauce to evaluate, I discovered this very mild-flavored Tapatio Hot Sauce at Walmart, and decided to bring home a 10-ounce bottle for review. Well, I liked the overall taste, thicker consistency, glass bottling, and decently-low price of this hot sauce from Tapatio Foods. Indeed, this is yet another of many companies that make hot sauce currently, due to its highly popular, spicy flavor and orange color. Apparently many folks like me, like that signature hot sauce kick, as hot sauce is the primary flavoring in the ever-so-popular Buffalo wings, spicy burgers, and chicken entrees.

I’ve applied hot sauce to my favorite fish dishes for years. This Tapatio brand is tied only with Louisiana Brand as the mildest hot sauce I’ve ever sampled. Yet it still has a gentle sting when applied directly to the tongue. Here are my detailed ideas on this hot sauce.

Benefits Of Tapatio Hot Sauce

The mild, warm flavor of Tapatio improves the taste of fish- and poultry-based dishes without stinging or numbing the tongue excessively. It can hide the “fishiness” of fish and the “fowlness” of chicken near-completely if that is the goal.

It’s a thicker sauce (about like wing sauce or maple syrup), and opaque (like whole milk or paint). The thickness derives comes from xanthan gum, and the opacity results from the peppers and gum.

Lower sodium, at 110 milligrams per 1-teaspoon serving. But if sodium is your thing, then try Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce (reviewed here). It has 240 milligrams of sodium per serving.

This gentle, peppery flavor offers a subtle peppery, salty warmth. But there’s not much zing here, as the primary flavor of this hot sauce appears to come from a multitude of unspecified spices rather than red peppers.

This product need not be refrigerated after opening. Just store it in a cool, dry, and dark place for maximum original-flavor retention.

There’s no sweet taste to become addicted to here, which is awesome. I’m so sick of looking for foods without a sweet taste. Tapatio Brand Hot Sauce is therefore one flavor that I’ve been seeking. So at least for hot sauce, I’ve concluded my search.

This hot sauce with its mild-level hotness, adds an interesting yet different-from-usual hot sauce flavor to any dish, but virtually no calories or carbs. I prefer it most on fish strips and chicken breasts.

I’d describe this hot sauce as very mild. This makes it acceptable to wide variety of guests at the dining room table even if abundantly dumped.

I love the glass bottle, that is much preferred to plastic for maximum original flavor preservation.

The sodium here is fairly low at 110 milligrams per teaspoon, it contains almost no calories, carbs, fat, or added sugars. So unless you’re hypertensive, this hot sauce you can drench over your foods without too many overuse worries.

What I Dislike About Tapatio Hot Sauce

I wish they’d have provided some recipes in which this product could be used. New ideas for hot sauce right on the bottle are always a joy to find.

This product contains the sodium benzoate preservative. So this places it behind most of the other hot sauces I’ve reviewed in the all-natural column, since most other hot sauces contain no preservatives. But the preservative may be required to protect the flavors of unnamed spices in this product, mentioned next.

Tapatio’s hot sauce also has a more complex flavor than the hot sauces that contain only red peppers as their flavoring agents. It also had garlic and unnamed added spices. So while there’s still some of the heat in the taste that other hot sauce products have, this one differs significantly and uniquely from the plain-pepper hot sauces. I haven’t decided yet how much I like this flavor. So far, I’m lukewarm. Perhaps a hint of barbecue? Not sure.

Locating this product can be laborious, except in the larger grocery store chains.

Tapatio Hot Sauce Ingredients

Water, red peppers, salt, spices, garlic, acetic acid, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate as a preservative.

Tapatio Hot Sauce Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 teaspoon (5 milliliters). Servings per 12-ounce container: 71. Calories: 0. Total fat: 0 grams, 0% DV. Saturated fat: 0 grams, 0 DV. Trans fat: 0 grams. Sodium: 110 milligrams, 5% DV. Total carb: 0 grams, 0% DV. Protein: 0 grams, 0% DV.

Tapatio Hot Sauce Rating

All-in-all, this mild-flavored hot sauce is okay, though I think its flavor diverges too much from the hot sauces I’ve grown up eating. Still though, it’s a cook’s friend for softly warming foods with spicy flavor that people will enjoy. In moderation, hot sauce is a healthy flavoring, as it contains no added sugars or fats. This sauce gives you some of the essence of hot sauce, but with less kick for those sensitive to more strong-armed spicing. So I recommend Tapatio be included any any chef’s kitchen. I’d rate it at 86 out of 100.

Where To Buy Tapatio Hot Sauce

Look for this pepper sauce in the clear glass bottle (that displays the orange-red hot sauce inside) with the white label that pictures Tapatio himself on the front, at Walmart or many other larger grocery stores.

While looking for additional brands of hot sauce to evaluate, I discovered this notably mild-flavored Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce at Walmart, and decided to bring home a 12-ounce bottle for review. Well, I liked the overall taste, thicker consistency, glass bottling, and decently-low price of this hot sauce from Bruce Foods Corporation. Indeed, many companies make hot sauce these days, due to its versatile spicy flavor. Apparently many folks like me, like that signature hot sauce kick, as hot sauce is the primary flavoring in the ever-so-popular Buffalo wings, spicy hamburgers, and other chicken courses.

I’ve applied hot sauce to my favorite fish dishes for years. Louisiana brand is the mildest hot sauce I’ve ever sampled. In fact, I’m not sure they can rightly call it hot sauce. However, it still has a gentle bite. Here are my over all favorable thoughts on this food dressing.

Benefits Of Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce

The mild, warm flavor of Louisiana Brand improves the taste of so many fish- and poultry-based entrees without stinging or numbing the tongue very much. It can hide the “fishiness” of fish and the “fowlness” of chicken near-completely if desired.

It’s a thicker sauce, in spite of the fact that it contains no xanthan gum or other thickening agents. The thickness derives entirely from the peppers within. It’s natural.

This gently sizzling flavor offers a subtle peppery, salty warmth.

The best-used-by date is nearly three years out from the purchase date. So this hot sauce will keep a long time in the pantry.

This product need not be refrigerated after opening. Just store it in a cool, dry, and dark place for maximum original-flavor retention.

This hot sauce with its medium-level hotness, adds lots of flavor to any dish but virtually no calories or carbs. I prefer it most on fish fillets and chicken patties.

I’d describe this hot sauce as very mild; I’ve tasted other much hotter sauces. This makes it acceptable to wide variety of guests at the dining room table even if abundantly applied.

I love the glass bottle, that is much preferred to plastic.

This product has no added food colors or preservatives. Yet it stores well for several years at least.

Though the sodium in this product is high at 240 milligrams per teaspoon, it contains almost no calories, carbs, fat, or added sugars. So unless you’re hypertensive, this is one dressing that you can drench over your foods without too much worry of overdoing it.

There’s no sweet taste to become addicted to here, which is spectacular. I’m so weary of searching for foods without a sweet taste. Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce is therefore one flavor that I’ve been seeking. So at least for hot sauce, the search is over.

They supply recipes for Bayou Beef Ribs and Spicy Louisiana Fried Fish right on the label. Nice to have other ideas for hot sauce right at the finger tips since, if you want to actually make one of these dishes, you can buy the ingredients, as listed on this bottle, before leaving the grocery store.

What I Dislike About Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce

Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce can be a chore to find, except in the bigger grocery chain stores.

It has roughly 720 milligrams of sodium per tablespoon, which can aggravate hypertension in those who need to watch their blood pressure. Perhaps there’s a low-sodium version of this mild pepper sauce.

In fact, Louisiana Brand hot sauce has higher sodium than most other hot sauces I’ve sampled, at a whopping 240 milligrams per teaspoon. They might have rightly called this product salt sauce instead of hot sauce. Frank’s RedHot Original hot sauce by comparison, has roughly 190 milligrams of sodium. But if you want vastly lower sodium than this, try Texas Pete hot sauce, at a small 100 milligrams per teaspoon serving.

Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce Ingredients

Peppers, vinegar, and salt.

Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 teaspoon (5 milliliters). Servings per 12-ounce container: 71. Calories: 0. Total fat: 0 grams, 0% DV. Saturated fat: 0 grams, 0 DV. Trans fat: 0 grams. Sodium: 240 milligrams, 10% DV. Total carb: 0 grams, 0% DV. Protein: 0 grams, 0% DV. Vitamin A: 2% DV. Vitamin C: 4% DV.

Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce Rating

All-in-all, this mild-flavored hot sauce is a cook’s friend for softly heating foods with spicy flavor that most people will enjoy. In moderation, hot sauce a healthy flavoring, as it contains no added sugars or fats, and Louisiana Brand hot sauce gives you the essence of a premium hot sauce but with less kick for those sensitive to strong-armed spicing. So I highly recommend it be included any any chef’s kitchen. I’d rate Crystal Hot Sauce at 96 out of 100.

Where To Buy Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce

Look for this pepper sauce in the clear glass bottle (that displays the orange-red hot sauce inside) with the red, white, green, and blue label at Walmart or many other larger grocery stores.

I had these Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets for lunch yesterday. As per ususl with the Mrs. Paul’s extensive line of frozen fish products, I was not disappointed. The breading was not excessive, and like the haddock and pollock fish found in other Mrs. Paul.s products, the flounder here is a mild-smelling and mild tasting seafood that does not overpower the senses either while in the box, while baking in the oven, or while steaming on your plate. You get just enough fishy taste to know that you’re definitely eating fish, but only just enough.

Here are my thoughts on this delicious seafood offering:

Benefits Of Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets

The flounder fish fillets themselves are packed in a plastic bag for freshness, and this bag keeps them from picking up odors of, and then assuming the flavor of other foods in the freezer. This bag however, is not re-closable.

These fillets are 100% whole flounder fillets. As mentioned, flounder is a mild-tasting yet full-bodied fish. So it accommodates flavoring spices well, and does not overly dominating the entire meal. Therefore, flounder compliments plays nice on the plate with other foods.

These fish fillets fit nicely on hamburger rolls or sandwich thins.

The breading is indeed light (thin coating) yet creates a pleasing crunch when baked according to the box instructions.

You can be re-close the box with built-in tabs that fit into slots on the top flap. Actually both ends of the box are equipped with these flaps so that it matters not when end of the box you initially open.

While baking, the fish fillets give off a mouth-watering aroma, so that when they’re finally ready to eat, I’m really chomping at the bit to chomp on them. This aromatic prelude makes actually eating them even more of a joyous experience. Frank’s hot sauce goes well with Mrs. Paul’s flounder fillets; my favorite topping to put on them.

I follow the twenty-eight to thirty minutes in the oven at 400 degrees instructions on the box that in my oven at least, predictably yields very hot, quite crunchy, and golden brown fish.

This best-if-used-by date on this product is roughly eight months out. So it will keep well in your freezer for at least that long.

What I Dislike About Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets

There’s no indication on the box that this fish has been tested for mercury. Doing that would comfort consumers, given the concern today about heavy metals in our food. But I’ve eaten these for long enough now without problems, that I’m not worried about mercury.

Each serving (one fillet) has 150 calories. Yet I must eat three or four servings to really feel satisfied. The breading no doubt add lots of extra calories. But on the good side, the coating is made from wheat flower.

However, Mrs. Paul’s makes the breading from enriched flour. I’d prefer that they use all whole grains in their seasoned coatings.

They also have added sugar and preservatives. So this flounder fish definitely qualifies as one of those “dreaded” processed dishes.

These fillets do not heat well in the microwave. In fact, the box recommends against microwave preparation. But microwaving them would shorten preparation time significantly. So perhaps they should work out a means of microwaving them with the same crispy results you get from a conventional oven.

Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets Ingredients

Flounder (fish, sodium tripolyphosphate to retain moisture), bread crumbs (wheat flour, sugar, salt, yeast), vegetable oil (cottonseed, and / or canola, and / or sunflower, and or soybean with TBHQ and citric acid as preservatives), water, wheat flour. Contains 2% or less of wheat flour (enriched with niacin, ferrous sulfate, niacin, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), salt, soybean oil, modified food starch, salt, sugar, wheat flour, extractives of paprika (color), dextrose, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate, monocalcium phosphate), garlic powder, onion powder, spice.

Contains fish (flounder), wheat.

Manufactured on equipment that also process other white fish.

Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 fillet (76 grams). Servings per container: 3. Calories per serving: 150. Calories from fat: 60. Total fat: 7 grams, 11% DV. Saturated fat: 3.5 grams, 18% DV. Trans fat: 0 grams. Cholesterol: 25 milligrams, 8% DV. Sodium: 290 milligrams, 12% DV. Total carbohydrate: 12 grams, 4% DV. Dietary fiber: 1 gram, 4% DV. Sugars: 3 grams. Protein: 8 grams.

Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets Cooking Instructions

Preheat your conventional oven to 400 degrees F.

Line a shallow baking pan with aluminum foil to minimize cleanup.

Remove the flounder fillets from the plastic bag, and place them in this lined baking pan.

Place pan, uncovered, in oven, in the middle of the rack.

Bake for 28 to 30 minutes total time, or until crunchy and browned.

Turn fillets over after 14 minutes (half-way though the baking process).

Once baking is done, remove the pan with the fillets from the oven, and let stand for 3 minutes.

Do not refreeze or prepare in a toaster oven, and promptly refrigerate any unused cooked fillets.

Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets Rating

Though they could be better if prepared with whole grain flour and without sugar, Mr’s Paul’s fish sandwich fillets are good eating however, so long as you don’t consume them too often or have excessive portions. Over all, I love the flavor of Mrs. Paul’s breaded flounder fillets. They cost a reasonable amount, are easy to bake, taste delicious, and are on the whole pretty healthful. So I’d highly recommend them to anyone hungry for flounder. I’d rate these at 93 out of 100.

Where To Buy Mrs. Paul’s Lightly Breaded Flounder Fillets

Look for this product with its dark green and avocado green box with pictures of the fillets on the front, in your larger grocer’s frozen foods aisle. I got mine at Walmart.

Frank’s RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce is quite the warm hot sauce though perhaps not quite so versitle due to its intense cayenne pepper flavor. However restaurants and pubs that surve die-hard hot wings fans use this extra-heated version of Frank’s RedHot hot sauce to flavor their hottest Buffalo wings. I’ve applied it to various fish dishes since discovering it, and enjoy the extra hard “kicky” flavor. Here are my impressions on this great hot sauce that’s virtually indispensable around any kitchen where they enjoy extra bite in their foods.

Benefits Of Frank’s RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce

The extra hot taste of this concentrated cayenne pepper sauce is remarkable, and can make your eyes water and your nose run if you’re not careful.

It’s thick enough that it does not readily run off the food you put it on. It has an opaque, milky orange look about it.

This extra-hot hot sauce is virtually non perishable. You can keep bottles for two years without noticeable degradation of taste. However, the color of the sauce may darken a little after years in storage. It’s best-if-used-by date is two years away from the date I purchased this product. So it keeps in storage a long time.

Further, Frank’s hot sauce need not be refrigerated after opening. Just store it in a cool, dry, and dark place for maximum preservation. The “heat” of the cayenne pepper must prevent any germs from growing in it.

This hot sauce adds lots of flavor to any dish but virtually no calories or carbs. I like it best on fish and chicken. You get no extra calories here, in spite of the extra hotness.

I’d say that this sauce is exceptionally hot; I’ve not tasted any other hotter cayenne pepper sauces. So you might want to use Frank’s Original or Mild versions in your party dips and wings recipes instead of this one, so as not to put off your guests with this extra heat. It can numb the tongue to the tastes of other foods for a time after eating it, and guests may not appreciate that phenomenon.

I love that they bottle this product in glass.

There’s no sweet taste to become addicted to here, which is really quite the refreshing change. So many foods have at least a small amount of sweetness due to all that ubiquitously added sugar.

Though the sodium in this product is quite high at 210 milligrams per teaspoon, the calories, carbs, fat, and added sugars are all virtually nonexistent. So unless you’re sensitive to salt, this is one flavoring that you can add without too much caution.

What I Dislike About Frank’s RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce

This product contains roughly 630 milligrams of sodium per tablespoon, which can reek havoc in those who should control their blood pressure through diet. Perhaps there’s a low-sodium version of this stingy hot sauce.

Somewhat hard to find in brick-and-mortar stores. Fortunately, the Walmart near to here carries this.

Frank’s RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce Ingredients

Aged cayenne red peppers, vinegar, water, salt, natural flavor, and garlic powder.

Frank’s RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 teaspoon (5 ML). Servings per 12-ounce container: 70. Calories: 0. Total fat: 0 grams, 0% DV. Saturated fat: 0 grams, 0 DV. Trans fat: 0 grams. Sodium: 210 milligrams, 9% DV. Total carb: 0 grams, 0% DV. Protein: 0 grams, 0% DV. Vitamin A: 2% DV.

Rating For Frank’s RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce

This “liquid fire” is a cook’s best wish for spicing up foods with flavor and heat that people will like. Frank’s unique flavor has been so popular due to the ubiquity of Buffalo hot wings these days and that Frank’s hot sauce is used to prepare them so often. In moderation, it’s a healthy hot sauce, as it contains no added sugars or fats. I love it thus, and would highly recommend it be included any any kitchen. I’d rate Frank’s extra hot sauce at 95 out of 100.

Where To Buy Frank’s RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce

Look for this pepper sauce in the clear glass bottle (that displays the orange-red hot sauce inside) with the red and white label at Walmart, Weis, Hometown Market, or other larger grocery stores.

I acquired a can of Pringles Multi Grain Creamy Ranch Flavor Crisps recently to sample. Lately, Pringles has expanded its flavor line and this ranch dressing flavor is one of those newer variations of the popular canned chips snack product. In this offering, they’ve also substituted a multi grain chip for their original potato chip for those who wish to eat more grains and less starchy carbs. Note: These are NOT potato-based chips, but instead, grain-based.

The chips themselves resemble the original flavor in terms of color, uniformity, and stack-ability. As with all the canned Pringles flavors, these ranch multi grain crisps appear to be effectively packaged and carefully handled during shipment, since the can I got had no crumbs in the bottom. The ranch flavor is exceptionally well-engineered from real buttermilk and sour cream, and the color schemes of the various flavor cans makes them easy to distinguish from one another on the grocery store shelf. Here are my ramblings on the creamy ranch flavor of this Pringles chips snack.

Benefits Of Pringles Multi Grain Creamy Ranch Flavor Crisps

Like the original Pringles potato chips flavor, these ranch multi grain crisps mesh well into a easy-to-hold stack, which makes them a breeze to consume without creating a mess. You can grasp a large stack in the palm of your hand, and mouth-stuff them with negligible spillage. They’re not quite as rigid as the potato chips and do flex a bit more thus.

Their appetizing ranch-style aroma and flavor once you eat them, handily wins those bouts with afternoon hunger and late-night food desires. The crunch is unique to Pringles, which are never soggy, limp, or stale. However, I do not find these to be as loudly crunchy as the potato crisps.

Sightly less fat (1 gram less) than the potato versions of Pringles.

These crisps are easy to procure at most larger food store. However, you may not see the creamy ranch flavor everywhere that you’d find the potato-based flavors, as stores with limited space tend to favor the original flavor over the newfangled ones.

The stay-fresh can with the resealable lid keeps the chips from losing their crunchiness for weeks after first opening.

Pringles improved the ranch flavor in this offering as compared to their ranch flavored potato chips in that they strengthened it. I prefer this multi grain rendition of ranch therefore.

The chips, if kept in the provided tube with the lid snapped on, keep for months or several weeks after opening. Thus, this is a well-suited snack food to save up on.

Zero grams of trans fat.

The chips-in-a-can innovation protects the crisps from excessive breakage; way better than the traditional bags used by other brands. You will probably see few crumbs at the bottom of a Pringles can; fewer than at the bottom of a traditional chip bag.

Pringles cans may be stacked vertically or horizontally in many rows, without worry about crushing the contents inside.

I found this Pringles product at a local Walmart for $1.50 per can; an affordable price for a starving artist like me. I’ve not yet encountered the multi grain ranch flavored Pringles at any smaller outlets or convenience stores so far however.

Though I remember most fondly the Pringles original flavor potato crisps, I’m pleased that today, they offer a plethora of flavors of their famous chips, such as this one in their newer multi grain line. Variety tastes good in Pringles’ case.

What I Dislike About Pringles Multi Grain Creamy Ranch Flavor Crisps

The potato crisps could be thickened a little, as I often find myself eating two or three at a time. This not only boosts their wholesome good taste, but makes them strong enough to hold any chip dip you’d desire to scoop up with them. Though somewhat less brittle than the potato crisps, these chips still break too easily.

These potato chips have excessive fat and sodium in my opinion at 9 grams and 180 milligrams respectively, per one-ounce serving (roughly sixteen chips).

Some sugar has also been added. Do away with all added sugar, I request.

Due to the fat and salt content, I would not classify these potato chips as a healthy food, even though they’re multi grain. So eat them sparingly to retain your ideal weight.

Rating For Pringles Multi Grain Creamy Ranch Crisps

I like these creamy ranch-flavored grain-based chips because they have a decent and strong, definitely ranch taste. Pringles do parties okay, hold their freshness for at least several hours when poured into a bowl, and are widely recognized as a snack pillar. People know a Pringles chip without seeing the can, and will appreciate being served them, although the multi grain chips have a light brown color as opposed to the omnipresent yellow of the potato chips line. I’d rate this product at 91 out of 100.

Where To Buy Pringles Multi Grain Creamy Ranch Flavor Crisps

So look for them in the orange can that has the aqua “multi grain” emblem on the front and the clear lid atop at your favorite larger grocery store.

The hand clapping sound is heard in all sorts of music these days from hip hop to some techno dance tracks. Hand clapping also helped fuel the rise of the disco era in the 1970s, inviting club-going customers to join in with their own clapping. Clapping can be heard most prominently in songs by the Village People, Anita Ward, and Parliament, and is often found into the disco-funk and R&B style music, some of which is included in the list below. I’ve put together this list of hand-clapping disco songs from my DJ music library, as these tunes make for great playlists on iPods.

Note that not all versions of a particular song contain hand clapping. Sometimes, you’ll hear it in the ‘disco single’ or dance versions more than the top 40 single versions. So I’ve included all the versions in this list of a song in which clapping hands are heard. If you notice some versions missing, it’s probably because either they have no clapping, or I do not have them in my music library. Enjoy.

I learned of Pringles Xtreme Blastin’ Buffalo Wing Flavor Potato Crisps last week while browsing the Pringles web site (here), and decided to taste-test them out and tell my findings. I could sense Christmas morning glee as I examined the dark gray and hot yellow-orange can with the picture of hot peppers and a bottle of Buffalo wing sauce floating around. Since I love Buffalo wings, and since the flavor of these crisps highly resembles the hotter varieties of wing sauce, I enjoyed this snack food. So the anticipation of eating those first few hot sauce like extreme-flavored chips, almost overpowered me as I waited to pay for them. As I’ve seen others do, but have sworn never to do myself, that can in my hand tempted me to crack it open and start eating before departing the store. But I stayed sane until I actually bought them and got them outside to the car.

These Xtreme Buffalo wing Pringles offer a medium-to-hot and highly authentic-tasting hot sauce flavor. But the tang is not so kicky that it completely covers up that original Pringles potato chip taste. Indeed, the wing and potato flavors harmonize quite pleasingly, as neither one overly dominates. This hot sauce Buffalo essence is among the strongest of the tastes found in the entire Pringles flavored potato crisps line that I’ve sampled. Indeed, I’m looking forward to reviewing other Xtreme Pringles products should they become available. So far, I’ve reviewed this one and the Xtreme Screamin’ Dill PIckle chips.

The mildly sassy hot sauce pepper kick of these canned potato chips comes from cayenne pepper sauce, which is a natural flavoring, and thus, not artificial. Though many artificial chemicals still remain, the uncanny resemblance to real Buffalo hot wings is great evidence that sticking with natural flavors, as Pringles did with this extreme-flavored chip, produces an excellent, true-to-life taste. They coat the crisps themselves with this orange-colored flavor powder that carries the Buffalo wing hot sauce taste. This does not alter the color of the potato chip much.

Pringles Buffalo wing chips make for a delightfully intriguing turn on traditional plain potato chips. The subtle yet somewhat forceful cayenne pepper flavor does great justice for this product. Indeed, it actually makes this product. Pringles should consider incorporating more natural flavors and less artificial ones in their entire potato chip line. They’d do very well if they could pattern all those other tastes after this one.

Benefits Of Pringles Xtreme Blastin’ Buffalo Wing Flavor Potato Crisps

The Buffalo wing flavor, unlike the more traditional bagged potato chips never becomes monotonous. I’ve consumed a couple cans now, and have never gotten tired of these crisps, just as I never grow bored with Frank’s hot sauce on my fish fillets for supper.

This product is fairly simple to find, though I’ve only seen it in the biggest stores. Fortunately, I’m close to a Walmart super center that always seems to have them.

Their snappy hot sensation can defeat that afternoon hunger or those bedtime munchies, like an efficient air conditioner cools a house on a hot summer day. The audible crunch speaks Pringles, which have never reached my sitting room soggy.

The stay-fresh can with the resealable lid well-confines the brand-newness for a week or two after opening, and many months before initially breaking that foil seal. So this is a superb snack food to stock up on.

Zero grams of trans fat.

I found this Pringles product for roughly $1.50 per Super Stack can; a reasonable price.

Though the original Pringles flavor is the one I like the best, this Xtreme Buffalo flavor just might tie it. I’m encouraged that Pringles offers so many flavors of their famed potato-chip-in-a-can, like this one.

Like with all other Pringles chips, these spicey wing ones are all shaped the same; like a hyperbolic paraboloid (horse saddle shape). So they’re easier to eat. You can, with so little effort, grasp a large handful from the can, and gobble them up with little spillage.

What I Dislike About Pringles Xtreme Blastin’ Buffalo Wing Flavor Potato Crisps

This product has much fat and sodium in my opinion at 9 grams and 280 milligrams respectively, per 1-ounce serving. But some other flavors have over 200 milligrams of sodium. But since hot sauce itself is a high-sodium condiment, I would expect that anything flavored like it would also be.

There’s also a long list of high-tech-sounding food additives, including sodium diacetate and monosodium glutamate. Much of the natural-ness herein, seems to be offset by these extra man-made chemicals. But these potato chips still taste quite a lot like Buffalo wings in hot sauce. So the natural component of the flavor very much survives in this food snack.

Sugar (in the form of dextrose) is here too. Get rid of that added sugar, please. Pretty please? I wish these chips could taste as delicious as they do, but without the added sugar and fat.

I’d also prefer that these crisps be thickened a smidgen, to further enhance the experience of eating them, as I often grab two or three chips at a time for a big enough mouthful. Thicker, more rigid crisps would not only boost the salty impression they make, but also strengthen them enough to hold any chip dip that you’d wish to scoop into your mouth with them. Of course, as good as these taste by themselves, I’m reluctant to put salsa or any other dip on them.

Pringles Xtreme Blastin’ Buffalo Wing Flavor Potato Crisps Ingredients

Pringles Xtreme Blastin’ Buffalo Wing Flavor Potato Crisps Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 ounce (28 grams or 16 crisps). Servings per container: Approx. 6. Calories per serving: 150. Calories from fat: 80. Total fat: 9 grams, 14%. Saturated fat: 2.5 grams, 13%. Trans fat: 0 grams. Cholesterol: 0 milligrams, 0%. Sodium: 280 milligrams, 12%. Total carbohydrate: 15 grams, 5%. Dietary fiber: 1 gram, 3%. Sugars: 1 gram. Protein: 1 gram.

Pringles Xtreme Blastin’ Buffalo Wing Flavor Potato Crisps Rating

To wrap up: I find these hot pepper flavored Pringles Xtreme potato chips a top-notch snack at home as well as on the train while traveling to Pittsburgh. Pringles add something desirable to almost any gathering too. The sizzling flavor is no exception. They retain their freshness for a few hours when poured from their protective tube into a bowl, and are widely recognized as a nostalgic party food. Since the’ve graced us in one form or another for several generations now, people know Pringles without even seeing the can, and generally like the newfangled flavors of this newfangled 1970s snack product. So I’d rate this product at 97 of 100.

Where To Buy Pringles Blastin’ Buffalo Wing Flavor Potato Crisps

Look for them in the dark gray, red, and orange can that has pictures of floating peppers on it, with the clear plastic lid, at your favorite larger grocery stores. If you enjoy hot sauce on your chicken wings or fish fillets, you’ll really like these chips.

I tried these Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets today for lunch, and found the thick breaded crust to be softly spicy and good-tasting.

The five fillets per package come in a thick paper box, that while not completely air-tight, seemed to protect well the flavor and texture. Each fillet is as long as the palm of my hand (around six inches), as wide as three of my fingers (roughly two inches), and as thick as one thumb (approximately one inch). And, though the crust breading is rather thick, you still get a high fish to crust ratio in this product. Do you don’t forget that you’re actually eating fish rather than bread.

The haddock fish itself is not very “fishy,” much less so than the tilapia fillets from Gorton’s that I checked out a few weeks ago. But for my taste, there’s enough fish taste in this haddock product indeed; just the right amount. So with that said, here are my detailed thoughts on this (tentatively) delicious supper-time seafood delicacy:

Benefits Of Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets

The box can be re closed with built-in tabs that fit into slots on the top flap, and since these flaps are present at either end, it does not matter which end of the box you open.

These fish fillets (at least the fish part anyhow, and not the breading) are a premium grade of haddock, which has no fillers.

Haddock is a subtle-tasting yet full-bodied fish. So it does not clash with many spices, and accepts additional flavorings well. The haddock flavor will not dominate the entire meal, nor does it smell overly strong while baking. So it will not stink up your kitchen.

This product keeps well in the freezer; at least for as long as I ever kept it (roughly six months). The best-if-used-by date is a year and a half out. Surprising, given the absence of a locking freshness bag.

The breading on these breaded fish fillets absorb lots of hot sauce; my favorite topping to drizzle over them. It baked up crunchy and golden brown.

I follow the twent to twenty-five minutes in the oven at 425 degrees instructions on the box. This always yields very hot, quite crunchy, and well-done, sizzling fillets.

While baking, the fish gives off a mouth-watering but not overpowering aroma, so that when they’re finally ready to eat, I’m really anxious to devour them. This aromatic prelude makes actually eating them even more of a delectable treat.

Gorton’s tests this product routinely for mercury and to assure that it meets their quality standards.

What I Dislike About Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets

I dislike like the long list of flavoring and preservative chemicals found in this product.

At initial opening, the box seemed fragile, and I feared that I’d tear the top flap in half. It should more resemble cardboard than paper. They could supply a more rigid box.

Also, I found no resealable plastic bag inside. They just threw the fillets into the box, which does not seal. Without a bag, freezer life of this product would be more limited I imagine. Give us a bag, please?

Each serving (one fillet) has 230 calories. Yet I must eat three or four servings to really feel full and fulfilled.

The breading no doubt add lots of extra calories, and appears to be made from enriched flour. I’d prefer that they use all whole grains in these coatings.

The fillets have added sugar and preservatives. So this course qualifies as one of those “dreaded” processed dishes.

These frozen fish fillets do not heat up well in the microwave. In fact, the box does not recommend microwave preparation. But an ability to “nuke” them would shorten preparation time significantly.

Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets Cooking Instructions

The package says to keep this product frozen until you’re ready to cook it. Microwave oven preparation is not recommended. Also, remember that fully-cooked fish must have reached a temperature of 165 degrees F or higher.

So, for the conventional oven, these are my own variation on the package instructions:

Place oven rack on the middle rung of the oven.

Set oven temperature to 425 degrees.

Line a shallow metal baking pan with aluminum foil. This minimizes the hard-to-clean mess that baking can sometimes leave in a pan.

While the oven heats, place the number of fillets you wish to prepare into this pan. But leave an inch or two of space between each fillet.

When the oven reaches the desired temperature, put the lined pan, uncovered with the haddock fillets on the middle rack in the oven, and let bake.

Turn fillets over after 12 minutes.

After 20 to 24 minutes total baking time, or until the bread coating is crunchy and golden brown, remove the pan.

Allow the sizzling to stop, and then serve immediately, while still piping hot.

Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets Ingredients

Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets Nutrition Facts

Serving size: 1 fillet, 98 grams. Servings per container: 5. Amount per serving: Calories: 220. Calories from fat: 130. Total fat: 14 grams, 22% DV. Saturated fat: 3.5 grams, 18% DV. Trans fat: 0 grams. Cholesterol: 30 milligrams, 10% DV. Sodium: 400 milligrams, 17% DV. Potassium: 130 milligrams, 4% DV. Total carbohydrate: 16 grams, 5% DV. Sugars: 3 grams. Protein: 11 grams, 22% DV. Calcium: 2% DV. Iron: 6% DV.

Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets Rating

Though they could be better if prepared with less flour and sugar, they’re good lunching or suppering nonetheless so long as you don’t gorge on them too much. Over all, I truly love the flavor of these Gorton’s fillets. They cost a reasonable amount, are easy to prepare, taste delicious, and are on the whole fairly healthy. So I’d recommend them to anyone who is hungry for the taste of haddock fish. If you’re a fish lover as am I, you truly enjoy the meals in which you serve this fish. I’d rate this product at 91 out of 100.

Where To Buy Gorton’s Premium Haddock Fish Fillets

I bought mine at Walmart, but have seen them at many grocery stores big and small. However, you’ll likely not find this product in very small grocery stores or convenience shops. Look for this in the bright yellow box that has the picture of the breaded fillets pictured, very large, on the front.
